There’s been a new addition to my family in recent weeks. My cousin and her husband brought this beautiful baby boy you are about to see into the world on March 29. This is the first great-grandchild for my family so everyone is very excited at his arrival. My mom is now joking (half seriously I expect) how she’s ready to be a grandma! Haha…..not quite yet I’m afraid, let’s just have fun with all the wedding stuff first, shall we? :)

This past weekend I had my first opportunity to meet this adorable little man, who is now 7 weeks old and growing like a weed! Of course my camera was in hand to capture some shots. This little guy was awake the entire time and hardly put up a fuss as we dressed, undressed and posed him! I couldn’t have asked for a better subject.

:: Boudoir

Well I am extremely excited to be tagging along with Jake + Jess of KampPhotography for a very fun boudoir session tomorrow. I will be working with Jake + Jess over the summer to help them out while at the same time learning and developing my skills. I am very excited for this opportunity to work with two such rocking photographers, and awesome people.

While I was getting a few things ready, for tomorrow I just couldn’t resist a fun shoe shot. Now that spring appears to be on the way I hope to pull out my cute shoes again instead of my UGGs….it’s been a long cold winter and tomorrow is sure to heat things up!

:: Newest Addition

This is Breeze (I thought that Bella suited her better, but I was overruled) and she’s a 4 month old miniature schnauzer. Last weekend I traveled home to spend time with my family for Easter. My mom had this little surprise waiting when I arrived. She had offered to foster the puppy for a week or so, for her friend who’s a breeder. Anyone who knows my mom, knows she is a HUGE softie when it comes to all creatures furry! How can you not love this little face? I had my doubts whether this adorable little fur-ball would be leaving, and sure enough I was right. This week when chatting with my mom she told me that Breeze would be a permanent addition to the family.

:: Orchids

Well I’ve been a little delinquent on my blog posts over the past few days. Sadly with this weather being crap-tacular, spring taking it’s sweet time in arriving and the oh-so-fun arrival of quarter-end (I know — excuses, excuses!)…I don’t have much exciting photographic material to post.

However, it was my birthday last week and I did happen to receive some beautiful orchids from my sweet and thoughtful boy. I couldn’t help myself with their beautiful colors — oh how I miss color — and had to get camera!!  Orchids are my favorite of all flowers, followed closely by roses, tulips, calla lilies….I do love fresh flowers! I love how tropical they are; I can’t help but think about Hawaii and get excited when I look at them!

Anyway, enough of my random floral ramblings…

:: Number 29

Well…in my opinion a person (and their significant other) should not have to work on their birthday. Especially when their birthday happens to coincide with one of the snowiest, ugliest days yet this winter! Today is Kirk’s 29th birthday. I want to wish the most amazing, sweet, handsome, loving and wonderful man a fantastic birthday. I wish you the very best in the year ahead. I love you.

:: Lucky

Well I arrived home to a very lovely surprise last night! Waiting for me when I arrived home were candles, flowers, champagne and a foot massage from my very thoughtful, sweet and loving fiancee Kirk. I’m one lucky girl!

:: Spring

Being a seasoned Winnipeger, I should be used to long, cold winters right? Sadly, I’m not  and I don’t think I will ever find the charm in a -40 wind chill!

I’m beginning that this winter will never end…

I was out buying groceries the other night and I saw these beautiful tulips. I had to buy them to remind myself that spring will come again this year…eventually! 

:: Rockin’ Tag Along Shoot

Last night I had the opportunity to attend a tag-along shoot with Winnipeg’s awesome Rocktographers. Nghia Tran, Coralee Penner, Jake + Jess Kamp and Curtis Moore  put on an awesome session talking about studio lighting and photography techniques. I’ve had zero studio experience so it was great to get an introduction into this environment. They also showed us different lighting set-ups, from the expensive pro set-up to a cheapie ghetto version (which was moody and awesome!).

Thanks for putting on an rockin’ session! It was great to finally meet all of you! I can’t wait to see what is in-store for future sessions!

:: Baby David

We I acquired a new toy during the week (a Nikon D90) and needed to test it out. Jen and I have been trying to get together for months to take some pictures of her little guy, so it was a great opportunity.

David is just 7 months…and such a cutie! He made my job very easy by smiling nearly ever time I picked up my camera!
